Tess Faces the Music

well, here we are! i’m glad you’ve found my little music-related blog. i hope you stick around to hear my thoughts on albums, music news, general concepts, etc.

before i start writing, i want to establish a few things. first thing’s first, you should notice that i don’t include ratings, at least traditional ones, in my reviews to cap them off. instead, i sum it all up in a conclusion statement. i feel like if i’m going to talk about music, then you’re going to hear me talk about it. if you do want to see some sort of scale, you can always visit my RateYourMusic account, but i do feel assigning numerical values on here would take away from both the discussion and spirit of music as an art form and not just entertainment. hopefully you’re okay with that!

also, i want to establish myself as a pretty optimistic reviewer and blogger. i’m constantly learning things about myself, music, and just the world in general, and i want to acknowledge that whenever i can. i may quickly outgrow opinions or whatnot, which is why 1. i want to take my time with each post and 2. i want to give fair, sincere, and overall cynicism-free takes that give you something inspirational or nice rather than scathing and depressing. i won’t shy away from negative takes, but just know i’m always trying to see the best in what i consume while also balancing that with enough nuance to control my taste and not just give everything a glowing five stars.
